ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct, behavioral therapy to individuals with and without developmental disabilities in their home, school,
and/or community
- Follows and implements programming as prescribed by BCBA
- Assists with accurate and reliable data collection and recording for each program
- Engages in and ensures client safety
- Teaches communication skills, social skills, self-help skills, and play skills using the principles of applied behavior
analysis (ABA)
- Communicates a wide range of information regarding the clients to a variety of people in and out of the residential
program such as co-workers, teachers, supervisors and parents/caregivers
- Maintains confidentiality of all clients and professional conduct at all times while on scheduled shift(s)
- Demonstrates sensitivity and the respect for the cultural diversity of others
- Works with children, adolescents, and adults on their treatment plan prescribed within and outside residential
settings, including, but not limited to the following: Gross motor, fine motor and range of motion skills, self-care,
communication/sign language, therapeutic feeding, use of therapeutic equipment, assistance with ADL’s, recreational
activities and community outings, behavior management programs, data collection and reinforcement systems
- Provides the personal and physical care needed by the client including tasks such as bathing, toileting, eating and
getting dressed
- Attends clinical review meetings and activity coordinator meetings as scheduled or requested by the
supervisor/manager
- Takes part in prescribed record keeping routines, such as writing monthly progress notes, and completion of data
entry on a daily basis
- Participates with in-service sessions, case reviews, interdisciplinary team meetings and other meetings upon request
- Assists with transportation to and from recreational and community-based activities and other appointments
- Advocates for client(s) via implementing such responsibilities as writing reports, data collection, case reviews, etc
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age
- Successful completion of a Level II security background registry check
- CPR, First Aid, and CPI or other crisis management training
- Possession of a valid Florida state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and proof of vehicle insurance
- Ability to work with children who may engage in disruptive behavior, such as tantrums and aggression
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or related field .
- Minimum of one-year experience working with children using procedures of applied behavior analysis, such as
discrete trial training (DTT), natural environment teaching (NET), as well as prompt and time-delays
- Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) as per guidelines outlined by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board
(BACB)-preferred, but not mandatory
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure
manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers
or employees of organization
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these
operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must complete and maintain certification in CPR, First Aid, and CPI or other crisis management training, and all other
training mandated by regulations
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability and temperament to work effectively with adolescents and/or adults who have developmental
disabilities. Must possess excellent organizational skills
