4-H Veterinary Science Camp

UF IFAS Extension Volusia County 3100 E New York Ave DeLand, FL 32724Open to current 4-Hers and the general public. This fun 4-H camp will teach youth ages 14-18 (must be 14 as of September 1, 2022) about careers in veterinary medicine.

4-H Veterinary Science Camp: The goal of this four-day camp is to provide youth who are considering a career in veterinary medicine the opportunity to explore the various fields available through animal science, agriculture, and veterinary medicine. Participants will learn about the following veterinary categories: small animals, exotic animals, equine, livestock, and shelter medicine. Participants will also practice hands on activities including injections, blood draws, taking vitals, reading medication labels, and fecal floats. Each day participants will also travel to various locations throughout the county to speak directly with local farmers, veterinarians, and professionals in animal science.

Tuesday, June 27th: 9am-4pm
Wednesday, June 28th: 9am-4pm
Thursday, June 29th: 9am-4pm
Friday, June 30th: 9am-4pm

Youth not currently enrolled in 4-H will be emailed instructions on registering as a 4-H member.

Camp Cost =
$50 Deposit + Eventbrite fee
$20 state 4-H membership fee paid through 4-H Online.
$150 remaining balance due by June 5, 2023

Participants will meet daily at the UF IFAS Extension office in Volusia County: 3100 E. New York Ave. DeLand, FL 32724.

Transportation to field trip locations will be provided.

Participants must bring a packed lunch, water bottle, and closed toe shoes.
