The Program is designed to provide quality year-around after school and summer care for children and teens in St. Lucie County who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504, or an Individualized Support Plan (ISP) documenting a disability. The emphasis is on maintaining and/or improving social, functional and vocational skills for academic achievement.
The program also allows parents the opportunity to maintain work dependability, as well as a structured family routine. The Arc is the only agency in St. Lucie County that operates an After-school and Summer Camp Program tailored to children and teens with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Staff-persons at The Arc have the requisite experience and expertise to work with children and teens with multiple disabilities. The Arc’s specially-trained staff can assist students with toileting, undergarment changes, two-person assistance, transitioning in/out of their wheelchair, and can even work with behavioral interventions, de-escalation, or work as a 1:1 personal aide for those designated in need.
